Charlotte Motor Speedway

For more than 50 years, Charlotte Motor Speedway has set the standard for motorsports entertainment and evolved into "The Greatest Place to See the Race."

Nestled in the heart of NASCAR country, the Mecca of Motorsports is the only race vacation destination where fans can immerse themselves in the sport by taking in an event at the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway and visit race team shops and the NASCAR Hall of Fame in the same weekend.

The speedway hosts three premiere NASCAR events each year - the NASCAR All-Star Race, the Coca-Cola 600 and the Bank of America 500 - as well as more than three dozen other events for automotive and motorsports enthusiasts of all ages. Charlotte Motor Speedway's basic philosophy is to always put "Fans First" and create memories that last a lifetime for all that pass through the gates.

On October 26, 1993, NFL owners unanimously selected Carolina as the 29th NFL franchise and the first expansion team since 1976. Fireworks exploded over uptown Charlotte as jubilant fans gathered to celebrate the news. “This is a dream come true for me and my partners and for the 10 million people in the Carolinas,” said Carolina Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson, who became just the second former player to own an NFL team along with George Halas of the Chicago Bears.

The “dream” began on July 16, 1987 when Richardson met in Charlotte with a group of interested parties to discuss the feasibility of entering the multi-city competition for two NFL expansion franchises. On December 15, Richardson officially announced an NFL franchise bid for the Carolinas.

As you’d expect, the story of Topgolf began on a driving range, where two brothers were practicing their swings. The year was 2000.

As boredom took hold, the brothers began brainstorming ways they could liven up their range experience and improve their skills at the same time. Why wasn’t there a place where they could work on their game and also have the best time of their lives? Why couldn’t they know exactly where their ball had landed?

The idea for Topgolf was born.

Fast forward to 2016, and Topgolf has evolved to become a best-in-class entertainment venue, complete with dynamic event spaces and a food and drink menu that would put any sports bar to shame. With golf pros strolling the tee line offering tips and climate-controlled hitting bays, Topgolf is flat-out fun at any age, skill level or time of year.
